Name the building, not the clinic

This is the single most important input for this route and the one most often left out of a reservation. Mayo's Florida campus is not one door.

Clinical care runs through the interconnected Davis Building, Mayo Building, Mayo Clinic Hospital, and Cannaday Building, with the Mangurian Building focused on cancer and neurology care. The campus also holds the Stabile education buildings and the Birdsall and Griffin research buildings. These are far enough apart that arriving at the wrong one is a genuine walk, not a shrug, which for a patient who has just flown in is a real cost.

Mayo runs valet parking, operated by an independent company for a fee, at the front entrances of the Cannaday, Davis, Mayo, Mangurian, and Duan Family buildings. Those staffed front entrances are the practical drop-off points on this route. Free patient parking sits in lettered surface lots and there are paid garages near the Davis and Cannaday buildings, with a campus shuttle circulating between the lots and the entrances roughly every ten minutes, but a shuttle is a problem you do not have when a car takes you to the door.

Flight numbers, and why they matter more here

Put the operating flight number on the quote request so pickup time can be set from the published schedule. If the flight moves, send the update. On this route that is the detail that most often decides whether the day ends at baggage claim or continues from there.

A patient who has been rerouted through a delay, or who has connected twice to get here, does not have the reserves to renegotiate ground transportation from a baggage carousel at eleven at night. A patient travelling with a companion and luggage is also an SUV rather than a sedan. The sedan at $120 an hour is right for a single traveller with a bag, and it is a perfectly good vehicle for this trip when the load allows.

The companion nobody plans for

The smaller fields around Jacksonville do not, Jacksonville Executive at Craig, for instance, has no customs facility, which means an international arrival by private aircraft cannot simply land at the closest field to the campus and clear there.

For a scheduled international itinerary, that usually means connecting through a larger US gateway and arriving at JAX on a domestic leg, in which case this route is exactly the twenty-mile transfer described above. One further practical note for international patients: the meeting point at JAX is the designated Ground Transportation Area on the lower level, and a pre-arranged vehicle is genuinely easier to find than a rideshare match after a long-haul journey in an unfamiliar airport. The route in the other direction, at the end of a stay

The departure leg of this transfer is the harder one to get right, and it is the one people plan least.
